Diary of a Mad TAMAR: Part I - the story
© 2009
2 Samuel 13:1-22
Imagine this, a beautiful young lady who was a virgin, had it together in all aspects of her life, is spotted by a young man, who thinks she is 'more precious then gold'. This young man watches the young jewel both day and night. He admires her and falls deeply in love with her without even have taken her out on a date or getting physically involved. He becomes so madly in love with her, that he talks to his friend about his deep affection for her. He tells his buddy that he desires to know her and be swept away in her arms.
Quickly the young man's friend conjures up a plan and advises him on how to get the young woman's attention. His friend knows that women are givers, nurturers, and caring. He knows that this is their nature. So he says to his friend, "In order to get this girl, pretend you are sick and in need." He tells him to go home and pretend that he is in desperate need of help. This way the young lady will be inclined to care for him and then he could make his move.
So, the young lady feels for the young man and her motherly instincts kick in. She begins to care for the supposedly sick young man. She helps provide him with food, medicine, and other necessities, all while caring for this man's spiritual life. But, what happens? While caring for him, she one day finds herself in his trap. One day while the young lady was giving the young man some food to eat, he asks her to sleep with him because he desperately cares for her. He asks her to share his love he has for her.
However, because this young lady was one of virtue and royalty, she says to the young man, "I can not commit this act with you." She tells him of her respect for him and reminds him that he is a prince and can not act as a foolish man, like those who are not of royalty. She asks him, "How would I feel if you do this with me? My virtue will be vanished and the people will make fun of me. Do you not care about how I will feel, after I took care of you and helped you?"
She even went as far as to say she would marry him without hesitation. She cared for him and simply wanted to do things the right way to please God and keep his and her dignity. Unfortunately, the young man refused to take to heart what the young lady was saying. In his heat, he forced her to lay down with him and he RAPED HER!
That night the young lady was raped emotionally, physically, and spiritually. That night she was told by the same young man to LEAVE HIS PRESENCE!!!! The young man told her that he now HATED her and wanted her to leave his presence and never to return.
The young lady in pure dismay looked at the young man and said to him, "Sending me away after you have done such a thing to me is worse than the act itself. She expressed to him, "How can you sleep with me against my will and now dismiss me as though I was a woman of no virtue. As though, I was a woman of no value or worth. I did not force myself to do this vial act but, you did! Now, you send me away? I am not going anywhere! How will I manage?"
The young man did not care. He now hated her more than he had loved her. The young man called his servant to throw her out the gates and bolt the doors after she left. The woman who went into the house wearing a royal garment, was now outside of his house wearing a garment of dust and ashes. She took off her garment of riches and put on clothes fit for a poor woman. She no longer saw her worth. She no longer saw her value. Why should she dress as though she were a queen when she felt like 'dirt'! She was at the lowest of her low. She never imagined herself in this predicament. Now, what was she to do but, be lonely with no help. She went away crying and weeping.
Fortunately, the story doesn't stop there. Her brother sees her and knows something has happened. He asks her, "What is wrong with you?" Based upon her emotional state he knows that it has to do with a man or man problems. He asks her if her other brother, the young man, has slept with her? He knew she had been caring for him. Her brother comforted her and told her to forgive him, since they were in actuality in the same family. Yes, they were kin. He told her to be comforted and forgive him of the act he had done. This brother took her into his home and cared for her. He protected her from the effects caused by the act. However, the young lady never healed from what the young man did. She lived with her older brother for the rest of her life as a woman of no worth or purpose.
This one act, by this one person had caused her to loose her focus and forget that she was royal. This act against her stripped her of her personal worth and value and she did not know how to interpret what had been done against her. She nurtured this wound and carried around the pain for the rest of her life. Not to mention she protected the name of the young man by never telling anyone what he had done.
She never sought revenge. The brother whom she lived with saw her desperation day in and day out and became angry at what had been done to her.
Finally, two years later the young man who raped the young lady received his punishment. He quickly found himself in a place of DEATH! He himself was placed into a trap by the older brother and ended up DEAD! It took long for his acts to catch up with him but, they did. However, this still did not resolve the pain of the young lady!
