Learning to TRUST

copyright 2007

As we grow from infant to elderly one thing we must do in our lives, is learn how to trust. Many of us learn to trust in our selves, parents, spouses, friends, money, careers, popularity, and etc. These things all seem to hold some sort of value and degree of trust. As time goes by we realize that trusting in these things can lead to us actually developing mistrust. Why is this so? This is so because these things are not what we must develop our trust in. When all the world seems to fail there is only one being that you can trust in and depend upon. Who? Jesus.

Trusting in God does not come just by being. However, it comes with faith and a growing relationship with him. The only way to learn to trust him is to learn about who he is and spend time with him. Let’s put it in real life terms, the way we as humans learn to trust a person/thing is through experience. For example, if a person earns your trust through your relationship with them and how they have treated you, then most likely they will be trusted by you. If that person gives you any reason not to trust them then you usually won't.

I have learned about Jesus during my own journey and have found him to be an excellent friend and companion. He is someone that can be trusted, however, as humans he cant always trust that we will follow through on our commitments. I admit, trusting God takes super natural power, FAITH! How does faith come by? Faith comes by hearing the word of God. How do you hear God’s word? You hear God’s word by reading it or hearing it preached. Through experiencing him, you learn that he is there when no one else is and he actually cares about you more than anyone else does!!!

Hi Stephanneth,

Earlier this past evening I was asking the Lord 'how to come out of depression'; I also told Him that I want a better life, a christian life. The answer I received was to 'read His word and stay in verbal communication with Him'.

Your blog confirmed the answer I received a few short hours ago. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you and sharing your journey with us.

I am so grateful that God confirmed his desires for you. May we be encouraged along our journey of life through its ups and downs.
Hearing from God and spending time with him is how we learn about him, learn to trust him, and allow him to heal us. Praise God for being used.

God bless you Tena and please visit our living healthy tips for info on depression and how to help relieve symptoms.
